What's on - graduands & nurses marching

File photo.

Good morning SunLive readers, and welcome to Saturday!

Am I the only one who is a little confused at what's happened with the weather coming into this weekend?

After a week of clear skies, beautiful sunshine and warm weather, I literally didn't expect the weather would turn this quick! But that's winter I guess, hey?

Still despite what the weather gods want to throw at us all, there's still a whole lot of activity going on out there in our gloomy, but beautiful region.

The first I should probably mention, so that you don't get shocked when you come across the road block, is the Bethlehem Tertiary Institute Graduation Parade.

From 12pm-3pm the Strand from Harington Street to Devonport Rd, and Devonport Road from Spring Street to 4th Avenue will be closed - so that all the graduands can march proudly before going to receive their qualifications.

These events are always amazing to be apart of, so even if you don't know any of the people receiving qualifications today - head along and give a cheer. They've put in the hard yards for the past few years and it's the easiest thing you can do to help them feel good about that.

And it turns out that these graduands won't be the only ones marching. On a more serious note, nurses from throughout the region will march today to rightly honour International Nurses Day.

The starting and finishing point is the stage at 120 The Strand, Tauranga and it begins from 12pm.

The event is a chance for nurses and everyone who supports them to have their voices heard - so head along and honour the people who take care of us all.

Failing either of these two options, there are also a whole bunch of events and classes that you can get involved in to keep you occupied for the day.

Have a look at them below in our What's On calendar.
