Woman allegedly kidnapped from Tauranga

A woman has allegedly been kidnapped from a Bethlehem address overnight.

A police spokesperson says at around 9.30pm the victim was at the property when a man – allegedly her partner – entered and tried to remove her from the building.

'He has pushed her outside, thrown her on the ground dragged her toward a vehicle in the carpark and they left in that vehicle.”

A short time later the vehicle was seen driving at speed on Cambridge Road toward Tauriko.

'The vehicle was pursued for a short distance toward the Kaimai Ranges on State Highway 29, but it was lost around the Omanawa Road area,” says police.

'Police are aware of both parties and are making inquiries into the matter.”
