A power outage is being reported in areas throughout Te Puke and Paengaroa.

Powerco is reporting 401 homes are affected by the outage.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says the outage looks to have been caused by a fallen tree.

Power is expected to be restored by 6pm.
