Dive squad to assist at Omanawa Falls

The Police National Dive Squad will arrive in the Western Bay of Plenty tomorrow, to assist in the search for a man missing at Omanawa Falls.

Police Search and Rescue responded just before 3pm to reports that someone swimming in the falls was missing.

Police were able to assist two people from the water, but a third person remains unaccounted for.

Police and ambulance were on the scene earlier today, Search and Rescue were called in later, and a helicopter was also on scene to assist the search.

Council staff are limiting access to the area overnight, before Search and Rescue resume in the morning.
