A man is recovering at home after being stabbed in Whakatane.

The victim was taken to hospital following an assault on Monday night.

A police media spokesperson says the incident happened just after 10pm.

'Police were called to a report of an assault at a residential address at Mary Henry Place in Whakatane around 10.15pm.

'A 22-year-old male was reportedly stabbed and taken to hospital, he's now been discharged and is recovering.

'A 15-year-old has been arrested and is helping with enquiries, which are ongoing.”
