A young girl is dead after being hit by a train overnight.
The 11-year-old was hit by a train on a railway bridge in Ngaruawahia around 6pm on Sunday.
"The young girl died at the scene," says police.
"Police are providing support to her family and the train driver at this time."
The girl's death has bee referred to the Coroner.
