Police have released the name of a Taupo man who was killed in a rockfall on the weekend.

Seventy-year-old Paul Lenard Batchelor died after being struck by a rockfall on State Highway 4 on Sunday evening.

'A blessing of the site was undertaken this morning with local iwi and Police present,” says police.

'The death has been referred to the Coroner.

'Police extend their sympathies to Mr Batchelor's family at this difficult time.”
