One person is dead after a quad bike and train collided in the Western Bay of Plenty.
Police say "the train and the off-road vehicle crashed on a set of train tracks between Katikati and Tauranga just before 8.30pm".
"Three people were believed to be in the vehicle at the time of the crash.
"One person died at the scene, another is being treated for minor injuries at Tauranga hospital, and the third was uninjured."
Police are investigating the crash.
