Ready to respond to housing need

Accessible Properties say they are ready to respond to the increasing housing pressures highlighted in the government's recent housing stocktake report.

Accessible Properties currently manages more than 2700 homes throughout New Zealand including more than 1100 social housing properties in Tauranga and 300 pensioner housing units in Hamilton.

They also manage around 900 properties for IHC.

'We are acutely aware of the need for more good quality affordable housing throughout New Zealand,” says Accessible Properties chief executive Greg Orchard. 'We are determined to do more to help more people into good homes.”

'As the largest provider of social houses in Tauranga we see the incredible pressure from people in real housing need for affordable, secure housing in the area every day,” says Accessible Properties Tauranga general manager Vicki McLaren.

'We will continue to work in partnership with local councils, emergency housing providers and other locally based organisations to provide pathways from homelessness through to long-term housing solutions for those in housing need.”

Since acquiring more than 1100 homes from Housing New Zealand in April 2017, Accessible Properties has continued to buy and build new homes; currently having a further 67 new homes in the pipeline and commitments to deliver another 150 homes in the Tauranga area.

'We know what a difference a good home makes and through providing warm, dry, secure homes for the long-term. Accessible Properties helps families and individuals stabilise this aspect of their lives and build a platform for the future,” says Greg.

Taht costs money, more than most can afford in mortgages or rent. So all the lovely words but no substance, no solution whatsoever?
