An 18-year-old man has been arrested after a police pursuit in the Eastern Bay last night.

A police media spokesperson says the pursuit happened just before 11.40pm.

“Police received a call from a property near the Whakatane Aquatic Centre last night, complaining about a loud party at the centre.

“Police went to the pools to check and a number of people ran away, leaving in a car. The car failed to stop for police and was pursued around town, finally coming to a stop in Awakeri.”

No information is available on what charges the man faces as of yet, says police.
