Police investigate Whakatane robbery

Police are seeking more information about a robbery at a Whakatane dairy earlier this morning.

Sergeant Ray Wylie says the incident occurred at the Mananui Dairy on James Street.

'At around 7.10am two men entered the premises with their faces covered, carrying wooden weapons and stole cigarettes before fleeing the scene.

'The dairy owner was in the shop at the time, but was not injured.

'Whakatane CIB are currently investigating the incident, and they ask that anyone who was in the area at the time of the robbery and may have information that could assist to please get in touch.”

Members of the public who may have witnessed the incident, or noticed anything suspicious in the area are encouraged to contact Police.

Its time to remove the excessive taxes from cigarettes and let smokers take responsibility for their own lives They can then continue to put their own lives in danger instead of transferring that danger on to the innocent shopkeepers and the rest of the population. This problem is a DIRECT creation of Government

Tomahawk Kid you need to pull your head in. Nobody made these people smoke. It has got nothing to do with the government. Its a bit like saying it is your fault. Personal responsibility thats what it is. Not the blame game...
