In the hunt for New Zealand's supreme Bach of the Year, two holiday homes in the wider Bay of Plenty region have been selected as Kiwi favourites, following an extensive public vote off which concluded Sunday night.

The competition, run by Bookabach, is currently in its fifth year and recognises the diversity in baches around the country, which are available to rent through the Bookabach website.

Shortlisted holiday homes are selected by Bookabach from its portfolio of more than 11,000 properties, and must have a star rating higher than 9.5/10, demonstrate qualities, features or facilities relevant to the category they are nominated in, and excellent traveller feedback to be considered.

Over the last week forty baches, across eight diverse categories were selected for public voting to decide the best of the best.

In the Bay of Plenty two properties will now be up for the Supreme award including Okere Falls bach 'The Love Shack” awarded gold in the charm category and Te Kaha bach 'Executive Retreat Te Kaha” awarded gold for its design.

Tauranga bach, 'Strathmore House” was also awarded bronze medal for being family-friendly and 'Waihi Beach North End” in Waihi was awarded bronze in recognition of being a pet-friendly home.

All gold winners are now in the running for the Supreme Bach of the Year Award, to be judged by two Kiwi home design experts.
