One person is nursing a leg injury after armed men smashed their way into a Tauranga liquor store.

The aggravated robbery was at Liquorland on Cameron Road at about 8.45pm.

A police spokesperson says two to three men armed with wood, smashed their way into the store.

'They assaulted the shopkeeper with the wood.

'An ambulance was required for a leg injury to the victim.”

It is not yet known if anything was taken.

Police are making inquiries to identify and locate the offenders.
