Police hunt offender near Bayfair

UPDATED 2.34PM: A large scale police operation near Bayfair has wound down after police failed to locate the person they were looking for.

Cordons were put up in the area around midday as police hunted an wanted offender in the area.

A police spokesperson says the offender wasn't lcoated.

"Police have withdrawn from the area. We thank members of the public for their patience if they were disrupted by the activity."

EARLIER:

A large scale police operation is underway near Bayfair as police hunt an offender in the area.

A police spokesperson says police are in the area "making enquiries to locate an offender".

"Opposite Bayfair has been cordoned off by numerous officers while police dogs conduct a search within the cordon," says a caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline.

"At least 12 officers, probably more can be seen with tasers in hand standing on Gloucester, Girven and SH2 roads."

Several other people have also contacted SunLive to describe the large police presence in the area.

People are being asked to steer clear from the area as the operation is carried out.

Release all scumbags on bail because there isn't enough prison space.... issue warrants when they go awol.... employ a load more cops & spend millions of $ wasting time trying to round them up.....back in court eventually where loony Judges give them wet bus ticket treatment because A) they're out of touch & B) not enough prison spaces. Repeat.
