Police have arrested a 44-year-old man who allegedly used a vehicle to assault a woman in Cooks Beach, Coromandel.
A police spokesperson says the man appeared in the Hamilton District Court today charged with assault with a blunt instrument and wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm.
Police were called to the incident by ambulance staff at around 10.40am on Monday.
The Auckland Rescue Helicopter was then dispatched to the scene about 30 minutes later.
Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust spokesperson Kerrie Spicer says the woman, who's in her 50's, suffered a serious pelvic injury as a result of the incident.
'Crew uplifted the patient from the Cooks Beach reserve and flew her to Waikato Hospital in a serious condition.”
The Cooks Beach mission was one of three flown by the ARHT on Monday.
