Dairy owner assaulted in Gate Pa robbery

UPDATED 4.25PM: Police are attending the scene of a robbery in Gate Pa this afternoon.

A police spokesperson says a man entered the Gate Pa Suprette just before 4pm and demanded money.

He allegedly assaulted the dairy owner, before making off with the till.

However, the till was recovered by a member of the public, although police could not say whether any cash was still inside.

A small red car may have been used as a getaway vehicle.

No ambulance was required at the scene.

A reporter at the scene says there are unconfirmed reports from a neighbouring shopkeeper that a weapon was involved.

Reports are coming in of a potential robbery in Gate Pa this afternoon.

A caller to the SunLive newsroom says police are at the Gate Pa Suprette on the corner of Cameron Road and 23rd Avenue.

Bolt the til to the bench top? Or have a steel tether cable from the til to the bench/floor/wall. It is simple.... they cant take the til if it is bolted down? Next, have a small cable to stop the drawer from being taken too... so all they can take is what cash they can grab.... and don't keep the big notes in the til... just keep a working amount in the til.......so they cant take much anyway.... Also, you can get a personal alarm with a lanyard.... if you pull the alarm (size of a small tape measure) off the lanyard, 130Db siren goes off... hard to think with that noise in ones ear.... and thieves are cowards... they don't want that sort of attention... Make life hard for these creeps. But first thing, secure the til..... glad no one hurt.
