A unique kindergarten playground in Katikati made completely out of clay will be completed on Friday.
Construction of the $10,000 playground at Katikati Kindergarten started at the beginning of the week and will be left to set for the next two weeks.
Kindergarten head teacher Cushla Scott says the playground is very interactive and encourages dramatic play.

'We wanted to have an amazing outdoor area that the children can enjoy.”
The playground will have a rockwall, a ‘hobbit house', swing bridge and tunnel.
Cushla says the kindergarten wanted to use clay to construct the playground because it was environmentally sustainable.
'We just wanted to make a sustainable playground for the children because the old playground was falling apart.”
'We are always looking at sustainable approaches to education and we look at how we use the earth.”
A specialist earth building advisor from Auckland also helped the kindergarten with the construction of the playground.
