Services join forces to show support

Armed offenders' demonstrations, kitchen fires and flyovers from the Classic Flyers team was all part of the show at the Emergency Services and Armed Forces Open Day.

More than 2000 people went through the event during the course of event at Gordan Spratt Reserve in Papamoa on Sunday, says Western Bay of Plenty Police Sergeant Phil Gillbanks.

In a post on Facebook, Phil thanks all of those who 'visited, participated in, or exhibited at the event”.

'You all contributed to a fantastic event that showed excellent support of the It's Not Ok campaign,” says the post.

'I conservatively estimate that over 2000 people came to the event throughout the course of the day. I would especially like to thank the sponsors of the event, Superloo, Kleana Bins, Classic Flyers, Fulton Hogan and the Tauranga City Council.”

The event was about demonstrating combined support for Family Violence 'It's Not OK” and together taking a stand against Family Violence and its continued harm to our children.

There were exhibits and live demonstrations by NZ Police, St Johns Ambulance, NZ Fire Service, NZ Defence Force, Tauranga Volunteer Coastguard, Search and Rescue, Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter, Surf Lifesaving NZ, Civil Defence and more.
