Bunnings Warehouse in Mount Maunganui and Whakatane are helping the Ministry of Civil Defence and Emergency Management raise awareness on preparing for emergencies as part of Get Ready Week which will run from 10 to 16 October in all Bunnings' stores.
Bay of Plenty residents are encouraged to visit their local Bunnings during Get Ready Week for practical information and activities on how to get prepared.
Kids D.I.Y. Workshops will be run in store on Saturday and Sunday at 12.30pm.
Kids will have the opportunity to make a take-home emergency board including vital information to ‘grab and go' in case of an emergency.
Bunnings Warehouse area manager Victoria McClenaughan says the inaugural Get Ready Week was a great way for local families to learn a few simple steps that can make a big difference in the case of an extreme event, such as an earthquake or storm.
'Get Ready Week is the ideal opportunity for families to start the conversation about what they would do in an emergency and consider how they can be better prepared.”
Bunnings is also running D.I.Y. workshops for adults and kids, sharing their expert advice through easy to follow steps.
More information can be found on the Bunnings website.
