The Thames-Coromandel District Council has been allocated extra funding for the Creative Communities Scheme as part of the Regional Arts Pilot.
The extra Arts Council New Zealand Toi Aotearoa funding will be awarded specifically to artists and arts organisations who've taken part in the regional capability-building programme ARTillery.

Creative Waikato will deliver the programme to the Coromandel district to provide tools to artists and organisations to succeed in their chosen field, explains a council spokesperson.
'The programme consists of eight free, interactive and practical workshops which have been designed so that participants work on their own project during the workshop which they can immediately apply in the real world.”
The ARTillery workshops will cover how to promote creative work, project planning for arts activities, creating a great vision, mission and strategic plan for groups, as well as what makes great structures and governance for groups.
Also covered in the workshops will be funding and fundraising for the arts, how to develop audiences, plus how to both organise tours of creative works and bringing touring works to your town.
The first of the RAP funding will be distributed during the next Creative Communities Scheme funding round in October.
