A section of State Highway 2 in the Bay of Plenty is closed this morning following a slip in the area.
The New Zealand Transport Agency reports a large slip has forced the closure of both lanes of SH2, south of Fraser Road, near Opotiki.
NZTA has closed a section of SH2, near Opotiki, following a slip.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the route and use SH30 from Awakeri through to Whakatane, to Ohope through to Wainui Road and back onto SH2 at Kutaere as a detour.

It's unclear how long the road will be closed for.
SunLive will update you as soon as the road is re-opened.
Meanwhile, NZTA has also issued an ice warning for SH29 in the Lower Kaimai area.
With this morning's temperature reading one degree at 6.30am, there is potential for ice on the road and motorists are being asked to drive to the conditions.
