Tauranga sailor Peter Burling and teammate Blair Tuke will lead the New Zealand team into the Rio Olympics opening ceremony tomorrow.
Silver medallists at the 2012 London Olympics and four times 49ers world champions, Peter and Blair were announced to lead the team into the opening ceremony, with Burling nominated as the official flag-bearer.
Peter Burling and Blair Tuke will be the flag bearers for New Zealand.
The sailors were each presented with a traditional kakahu (cloak) and at the official announcement in the Olympic village and said they were proud to be honoured as a crew.
"We would not have had the success we have had without each other and we know this is the case for many of us in the New Zealand Olympic Team," says Peter.

what an honour to be able to be the flag bearer for the NZ team and represent entire country at the start of the games, I don't think people really understand just how phenomenally talented these 2 young sailors are ... they have a huge future ahead of them this is only the early stages for these 2
