Shoppers were evacuated from Bayfair Shopping Centre after an alarm activation this afternoon.
Two fire crews responded to the incident which occurred just before 5pm.

A Tauranga local who just wanted to be known as Maxine, says shoppers had left the building in an orderly manner and were congregating in the main car park on the corner of Maunganui Road and Girven Road.
'One truck is parked by the main entrance to the shopping centre and another truck has just arrived. I can't see any smoke. So it's probably just a false alarm.”
A Northern Communications Fire spokesperson told SunLive an alarm activation had triggered the evacuation, fire crews where still checking the building but at the time of the call nothing had been found.
