Community Connections at CBD

The City Council's next Community Connections get together is coming to Tauranga's CBD tomorrow.

Head along to Tauranga Art Gallery any time from 5.30pm to 7pm to learn more about what's happening in the CBD and at council, and talk to representatives from a great range of local groups.

Community development committee chairman Steve Morris says Community Connections is a chance for people to find out more about what's happening in their local area.

'We want to encourage as many community members as possible to come along and share their ideas with their Elected Members and local groups.

'As well as community organisations, we'll also have Council staff on hand to help with any queries, talk about our Community Development Match Fund, and discuss some of the projects we're currently talking to our residents about.

Steve says these include the Civic Heart project; what the Council is looking at doing to minimise the amount of waste going to landfill; and the Tauranga Reserves Management Plan review, which is all about making sure the Council is managing the reserves the way the community expects.

'The informal drop-in setting means everyone can pop by at a time that suits them.”

Representatives from the following groups will be there on the night:

  • Office of Hon Simon Bridges, MP for Tauranga
  • Sport BOP
  • Sustainability Options
  • Citizens Advice Bureau
  • YMCA
  • Emergency Management Bay of Plenty
  • New Zealand Response Team
