A Mercury Bay dog owner has had their disqualification from owning a dog lifted, says the Thames-Coromandel District Council.
The woman's disqualification from owning another dog was lifted by council's Judicial Committee this month – two years and eight months into her five-year disqualification period.

Community Environment Group Manager Barry Smedts says the committee accepted there had been a turning point.
'The offender has demonstrated accountability for the circumstances leading to the offence involving her dog,” explains Barry.
'Given the changes demonstrated by the person, and that steps will be taken to ensure measures are in place to fully train and secure any future dog she owns, it was resolved to immediately lift the disqualification.”
The vote by the Judicial Committee to lift the disqualification was a majority vote but not unanimous.
