Boese Landcare in conjunction with local contractors will be carrying out the reinstatement works, which includes construction of a retaining wall and concrete overflow platform to minimise storm damage during future events.

'The road will remain open to traffic during the work, but short delays can be expected," says Roading Manager Matt Busch.

'Designs are being prepared for the two large dropout areas on the Coromandel Town side of the Tokatea Hill on Kennedy Bay Road and work is expected to be completed on these sites prior to Christmas, once designs are finalised, consents granted and contracts awarded.”

The repair works are expected to take three weeks to complete.
