Marine-based construction company Total Marine Services has been awarded the tender for Thames-Coromandel District Council's Tairua Wharf Project
The $1.4 million project involves rebuilding the existing wharf and taking the opportunity to widen the current infrastructure to allow permitted vehicles (emergency and commercial) to use it.

Tairua-Pauanui Area Manager Garry Towler says the boat launch ramp will be widened and extended with two pontoons brought in for extra safety.
'Total Marine Services has a proven track record and has extensive knowledge of Tairua, having been involved in the build of the Tairua Marina,” says Garry.
'We hope to lodge building resource consents at the end of June if all goes to plan with our preparatory work.”
Should the consent process takes longer than planned, Garry says the project could start in late July or early August.
Trailer-boat parking does not form part of the resource consent for this project and parking will be addressed once the wharf rebuild is completed to determine what, if any, additions or alterations need to be made to current parking.
