Appeals period closing soon

Submitters to the Thames-Coromandel District Council's District plan who wish to appeal a decision will have until June 13.

Council says the decisions on the new District Plan took effect on April 29, but until any appeals are settled, some provisions of the previous Operative District Plan will remain in force.

'Submitters who are not satisfied with the decision made by the by the District Plan Hearings Panel on their submission can appeal the decision to the Environment Court,” council says.

'An appeal must be made using Form 7 of the Resource Management Regulations (Forms, Fees and Procedure), accompanied by the Courts filing fee of $511.11.”

Provisions not under Environment Court appeal will be treated as operative once staff confirm which provisions have been appealed.

'This means the equivalent provisions in the previous District Plan no longer apply.”

Locals can see how their property sits in the District Plan by using council's SMART Maps system.

Council says once locals have found their zone they can then look at the overlays to see if any other rules apply.

'Think of the zone as a cake and the overlays as the icing and sprinkles on top of the cake,” adds council.
