Cracked main forces water shutdown

Some homes in Papamoa this morning have been left without water following an emergency shutdown.

Tauranga City Council communications advisor Marcel Currin says repairs are underway in the Bermuda Drive roundabout where contractors have excavated to access the 150mm water main that has cracked.

Contractors are working to repair a water leak in Papamoa.

Properties currently without water are: 370-462 Papamoa Beach Road (evens only), Bermuda Drive, Mauritius Key and Maldives Way.

Repairs are expected to be completed around 9am.

Councils core business failing. Is it due to lack of funding for maintenance? In that area it can't be because of the age of the pipework system.
