Voting themselves a payrise

I read with disgust that Mayor Crosby and his cabal have 'voted themselves a pay rise”. Did they ask the people. their employers, who provide the money to run this city, their permission? Do they deserve it? Can they explain why ? Dipping greedy hands in the public purse without our permission is a dictatorship not Democracy.
They spend public money recklessly on luxuries eg: Bay Wave, Baypark, plunge Tauranga into debt and still want a payrise. We don't 'pocket” money to spend on ourselves when we need to put that money toward paying off our own debts, we prune back where we can and cut our suit according to our cloth. Likewise they should.
Some will say 'it's not much money in the scheme of things” well let them pay, don't suck it from those who are already being sucked dry by higher prices and ever increasing living costs.
It's not a level playing field, with pay rises on a percentage level, work it out. Make them do the job properly and provide services that are essential, that is their job, before their cash cows dry up. It's time for changes, let's make them.
A. Taylor, Tauranga.

YES MINISTER

Reminds me of the charade that was played out every week, particularly that the minister was played off each and every week by simple minded but crafty officials with a single minded need to retain the 'status-quo' no matter what the cost.

Voting themsleves a pay rise

When the less than informed Tauranga electorate voted the present cop of feckless hapless councilors in basically they voted a pay rise for them. You keep voting them in and they will keep on sticking it to you. In the arrogance of their ignorance on the matter of the interpretation of the word recession they totter blindfolded though the ratepayer's money like a man with no arms. It is strange that in the corporate world and the bureaucratic world a loser is worth more than an achiever. How can anyone who loses $375.000.000 be worth a rise. All these hapless individuals are worth is the sack and until the Tauranga electorate wakes up to the fact that we have the most inept council in the country we will keep sinking into the mire until Tauranga becomes bankrupt, there is nothing more certain than that. We don't need an earthquake to break this city all we need is for the same council to reelected each term they will wreck the city without any help at all. Come on Tauranga wake up.
