No need to spend all this money on a Tsunami Warning system when we all have one in our homes.
I raise this issue because I see all the proposals for warning systems that will not reach enough people and will cost millions. We already have the best system in place and it operates even when the power is off!
Our hard wired Telephones. Simply arrange with the Telephone companies to phone everyone in the affected areas with a warning message. If they can send me automated messages to buy things then they can do this also.
Day or night, we all get up to answer that ringing sound. Keep it simple.

Alarms/Sirens are simple you need around 15 of the type used in all other Pacific Rim countries and are not particularly expensive either.Anyway how much do you value a life at ? I personally doubt most people will have phones next to their beds and therefore wouldn't hear them at all.

Ken Evans have you taken leave of your senses pray tell who is going to man the telephones and call 100000 people because automated phoning won't work. All this required as a tsunami (if it ever comes) approaches our shores at 600km/ph.For heavens sake Mr Evans wake up and concede a cost effective siren system is the only way to give adequate warning.
