Foul play suspected in Bay death

Bay of Plenty man Ian Walter White has been named as the person whose body was discovered in a Rotorua home on Sunday.

A post-mortem is expected to be carried out on the 58-year-old's body today.

Police are treating the Rotorua man's death as suspicious as officers continue to investigate.

District field crime manager Detective Senior Sergeant Lew Warner says Ian's body had been discovered about 4.30pm on Sunday.

'Our thoughts are with Mr White's family as we continue with our investigation into the circumstances of his death.

'At this stage it's not clear exactly what has occurred, so we're keeping an open mind and are talking to a number of people to help build a picture of his movements and anyone he might have interacted with prior to his death.”
