When Robyn and husband, Pat, came to Tauranga on a day trip yesterday from Paeroa, they neatly packed their 17 Chihuahua crosses into a push pram and brought the dogs along for the ride.
The couple breed Chihuahuas and say they never leave home without their ‘babies'.
'Whenever we go on an outing, they always come with us. They are just like our children. They bring us so much enjoyment,” says Robyn.
The couple have been breeding Chihuahuas for five years and say they always attract a lot of attention whenever they are out.
'We were in Rotorua and a mob of about 35 people were pushing to see the dogs and we nearly caused an accident once in Hamilton because a driver was concentrating on the dogs and not the road,” says Robyn.
When Robyn and her husband head out for a meal, they always order a plate for their dogs.
While out in Tauranga for lunch along The Strand yesterday, a plate of fish was ordered for the Chihuahuas.
New Zealand pram manufacturer Mountain Buggy donated the $2000 pram for the Crook's Chihuahuas.
