Police are investigating a crash where a driver ditched a car after crashing into a bank in Oropi.

Officers were called to the crash on Oropi Road around 9pm.

Western Bay of Plenty road policing manager Senior Sergeant Trinity Milham says there was only one vehicle involved in the crash.

'The driver did a runner and police are investigating the crash.”

Trinity says while the investigating is progressing, police welcome any calls with relevant information about the crash.
