Proposed dredging raises questions

The hearing on the pros and cons of the proposed dredging by Ports of Tauranga raises some interesting questions and comments.
Sometimes we seem to want to run with the wolves and hunt with the hounds when it comes to being players in the big picture of global commerce. Or as my Uncle Heeni would say 'Having a bob each way”
For my two bobs worth of leaving a legacy for our kids to enjoy the immediate survival of our Moana is not about what we are taking out by dredging, but much more about what we are pouring into it in the form of nitrates from farming, agri chemicals, industrial poisons and sewerage. Where are the hearings and enquiries about this travesty?
Let's hope the new channel into the safe harbour of Tauranga can be dredged in time for the rugby world cup, so the $2 million plastic Ngati Whatua waka can sail on in. T Kapai, Te Puna.
