The letter of B Beckett 1/4/2011 attracted the attention of Bill Faulkner.
Bill postulates that 'my column is open and honest…” yet few of us 'turkey” in the real world have the equivalent opportunity to write as often and as much as Bill is permitted.
The editors note almost admits that there are activities that 'caused the problem” but that it was not me that voted for them, But as Bill was the chairman of the Council Projects Committee from 2007-2010 and that it is very hard to find a single project that occurred in that time where the minutes of Council meetings record a 'NO” vote to anything by Bill? The statements made would appear to be off the mark somewhat.
As an example the Art Gallery operating grant of about a $1m pa was meant to be 'community funded” and so not cost ratepayers anything annually in the rates, yet the time to stop this happening was before it was built so as the ratepayer was not burdened each and every year. Sorry Bill by the time the penny dropped your horse had long since left the barn on that one.
A Barnes, Tauranga.

Or is it HUFF n PUFF Bill? Nothing real in the weekly column, it is nothing better than electioneering every week, the best answer would be to have two columns side by side, Bill and a competent commentator reporting on Council events and decisions, therefore providing a critique and comparison that is substantive!

Bill is for sure, looking through the minutes of the last 3 1/2 years there is no sign of a "NO" anywhere to be seen to any project undertaken by Council, where does he get off saying 'it was not me ...' ?

get outside and go for a wander, enjoy the live on the land and never mond all this other stuff. If you can not eat it then little use for anything else other than lighting fires to cook up a bit a Croc.
