On-going battle for Beach Rd

I have been having an on going battle with council over the 30 year patch up exercise on the Beach Road walkway from Otumoetai Rd to Ferguson Park.
They have now decided to give the job to a firm of engineers to sort out.
The engineers have opened the filing cabinet and dug out a revertment plan for this situation. Unfortunately, engineers do not seem to have heard of the word 'aesthetics', which means, taking visual beauty into account.
This repair job would be fine on the side of the road by the Wellington Airport, where there are only cars driving past, but for a public walkway, it is pretty barren.
They completely ignored my solution, which would have been much more pleasant for the people who stroll along this piece of harbouside, but of course they did not think of this aspect.
They have also removed the pohutukawa trees that some individual planted to beautify the track. Unfortunately it needed my solution for them to have been spared. We great unwashed ratepayers know absolutely nothing of course. It must always be left to the all knowing geiniuses who run this wonderful city. Aufwiedersen!
Cedric Sutherland, Otumoetai.
