I agree with Steve Morris that there is a need for Tsunami sirens. However, can someone please tell me what to do if I hear one.
Do I get in to my car, along with the rest of Papamoa residents and try to get through Domain Road, hoping for a green light at the Pak-n-Save corner; or do I walk/run on my aging legs towards the Main Highway? The problem with this is, once I have scrambled through the deep drain bordering the road, survived being road kill, traversed the drain on the other side, and crossed the railway line, it may be too late.
I think my best bet may be to get in to my swimming togs, prop the ladder against the side of the house, and climb on the roof with my swim goggles and boogie board. Of course the logical idea is more access out of Papamoa, but maybe that is also too easy for the Council to arrange.
