An eight-year-old boy was propelled into the air after he was hit by a car in the Eastern Bay of Plenty this afternoon.
The Trustpower TECT Rescue Helicopter was dispatched Te Kaha where the local boy had been hit by a car while riding a quad bike.

'The boy was riding out of his driveway when the incident occurred, he was thrown several metres landing on his back,” says pilot and base manager Liam Brettkelly.
'He received abdominal injuries as a result and was flown along with his mother to Tauranga Hospital for treatment, his condition was described as moderate.”
The two occupants of the car, tourists from Northland, were uninjured in the incident.
