A motorcyclist suffered a leg injury after an accident in the Eastern Bay of Plenty overnight.

The BayTrust Rescue Helicopter was dispatched to Te Kaha about 9pm after a 54-year-old Lower Hutt man fell from his motorbike.

'He sustained moderate leg injuries and was flown to Rotorua Hospital for further treatment,” says a statement from the rescue helicopter.

'The helicopter was used due to the distance from a suitable hospital versus the time it would take to drive. This mission was flown using night vision goggles.”
