Pilot Todd Dunham says a 17-year-old girl from a scout group, had tripped on a tree root and badly injured her lower leg.

'A LandSAR team carried her to a place where the helicopter could land.

'St John paramedics stabilised her at the scene before being flown to Tauranga hospital for further treatment.” Todd says the helicopter was called due to the terrain and time to get her to hospital.
