Tauranga woman Andrea Meldrum says her sky diving company is delighted to be 'giving something back” after helping Labour Party leader Andrew Little complete a 19,000ft jump on Friday.
'Absolutely fantastic, exhilarating and amazing,” was how the leader of the opposition described the leap, after he completed the feat over Franz Joseph to launch a new conservation initiative.

In what will be a three-year partnership between Skydive Franz and the Kea Conservation Trust, the tandem skydive was in support of New Zealand's iconic mountain parrot.
Andrea, who grew up in Gate Pa and is a partner in SkyDive Franz, says: 'Andrew really enjoyed the jump, especially for the fantastic views of the West Coast, and the company is delighted he was prepared to do the country's highest skydive to launch the kea project.
'Now our company is five-years-old, we want to give something back, and supporting the kea is one way we can do that.
'We think the kea is an awesome bird – cheeky and intelligent but also with a reputation for being destructive. The kea is the world's only mountain parrot and is classified as nationally endangered, so it needs help.”
'Free-falling at 200 km per hour was the best part of the jump,” adds Andrew. 'We got a fantastic view and it's a beautiful area.”

Andrea's husband and CEO of Skydive Franz James Meldrum says: 'We are delighted to have received Andrew Little's interest and support for this exciting project.
'We are lucky to work in an amazingly beautiful area and our team are passionate about the environment.
'The Kea Conservation Trust carries out fantastic work to help preserve and protect kea and we are delighted to be in a position to help fund this work.”
Skydive Franz has rebrand its premium jump as the '19,000 Foot Kea Jump” and will make a donation per jump completed.
Each tandem skydive customer will also be invited to donate to the trust. In addition, the company will also be donating a group skydive flight on an annual basis to enable individuals fundraise for the trust.
