Encouraging a senior politician to jump from an aircraft is not in many job descriptions, but that's exactly what Tauranga's Andrea Meldrum will do tomorrow when Labour Leader Andrew Little skydives for a good cause.
Andrea will help Andrew make the highest tandem skydive in New Zealand from 19,000 feet on Friday to mark a new conservation initiative between her company Skydive Franz and the Kea Conservation Trust.

'Now our company is five-years-old, we want to give something back, and supporting the kea is one way we can do that,” says Andrea who grew up in Pyes Pa.
'We think the kea is an awesome bird – cheeky and intelligent but also with a reputation for being destructive. The kea is the world's only mountain parrot and is classified as nationally endangered, so it needs help.”
The Franz Joseph jump will be Andrew's second skydive after he made the leap from 10,000 feet in the 1990s.
He is reported to be excited about completing the jump from close to twice that height – weather permitting – tomorrow.
Skydive Franz will donate $5 to the kea trust for every client who makes the 19,000 feet tandem skydive, and encourages clients to match that dollar-for-dollar.
The Kea Conservation Trust was set up in 2006 to assist in conservation of wild Kea (Nestor notabilis) in their natural habitat and increase the husbandry standards and advocacy potential of those Kea held in captive facilities within New Zealand.
Skydive Franz was founded in 2010 by Craig Clark, James Meldrum and Alex Miller – three Kiwi guys with a passion for the West Coast and aviation. These days the company is still owned and operated by James and his wife Andrea alongside Craig and wife Jo.
The growth of the business has been rapid thanks to its reputation for service, safety and the incredible scenery skydivers enjoy. Skydive Franz offers skydiving from 13,000 feet, 16,000 feet and 19,000 feet.
