Police have confirmed that armed officers arrested a man on the Waihi Road overbridge at about 9.40am this morning.
A witness who contacted SunLive's newsroom described a blue HiLux being followed by three police cars before it was stopped when it encountered three more police cars blocking the overbridge.

Police were seen pointing pistols or tasers and the driver got out of the ute with his hands up, says the witness.
Police Inspector Karl Wright-St Clair says armed police stopped the vehicle as a result of an incident at a Brookfield address earlier this morning.
The man was believed to have been armed with a knife.
'This man is currently helping police with their enquiries and no-one else is being sought in relation to the incident,” says Karl.
'Police will not be commenting further on the incident at this time.”
