Tarakihi trip turns up trumps

Jig
from Wish4Fish

The fish are eager and so is the new writer of this fishing column to give you a fresh, up-beat report on the weekly fishing scene.

I'm the Jig, the mystery mascot for the Wish4Fish Charitable Trust, but more about the charity later. I will do my very best to bring to you all the top F-spots and share with you all my deep, dark fishing secrets.

When I'm not fishing I support Wish4Fish, a locally based charity that helps get people with physical or mental disabilities out on the water.

On a recent trip with Wish4Fish we had a riper of a day on the water. Due to our success, I will share with you the coordinates of our trip; 37-37-18 and 176-14-25. This spot fished well all day and gave us our limit of good sized tarakihi. The tackle that had the fish biting were 3/0 pink and blue flasher rigs which were sweetened by cubes of bonito.

Keep your eyes peeled for next week's issue: we promise to bring you reports on surfcasting, harbour fishing, fishing at Motiti, fishing at Mayor, soft bait fishing and wharf fishing. Also please send in your fishing pictures, as you could be in to win a monthly $50 Wish4Fish terminal tackle voucher - you gotta be in to win.

If you would like to purchase any fishing gear we have mentioned in this article, please email [email protected] for a catalogue. If you feel you would be able to help the Wish4Fish charity in anyway, please visit our website www.wish4fish.co.nz or call Bryce on 021 616 601.
