Martial Musings with Grant Buchanan of Mile High Karate and Youngforest Tai Chi |
We all want the best for our children. How can we build that unflappable confidence, focus and 'go get ‘em” attitude that will lead to success in their lives.
Well many have turned to Martial Arts in search of just those things. What I have found after 20-plus years in the Arts, is that this isn't the outcome for the vast majority. The reality of any organisation, school or team, is that the leaders and the ‘stars' always bubble up to the top.
So if our child isn't one of the gifted or recognised few, how do we build self-belief. We need a system that teaches how to unlock our potential, how to be successful, how to try, how to set goals, how to be a leader, how to be a self-starter, how to help others, how to realise our potential.
This is why my school has taken on board the Mile High Karate Syllabus and started actively teaching leadership and success skills.
Now running alongside the Martial Curriculum is our personnel development and school safe street safe modules. Established and refined during the last 30 years, Mile High Karate started in Denver Colorado the Mile High City. Taking input from leading Child Psychologists and personnel development coaches, Mile High guarantees successful outcomes for those participating.
With this new focus on the student, instructors are able to get alongside students and actively encourage and reinforce the values and principles that good parents are laying out at home. Far more than kicking and punching in the school hall, these students now tap into a vast resource in positive character development and work with focus and support towards each of life's goals. Goals we set are goals we get. Set one for your child or yourself.
