UPDATED 1.55pm: Tauranga's IRD office has re-opened its doors after they were closed to the public this morning following security concerns.
A veiled threat via a cell phone call to the IRD 0800 number was the cause of the shut-down, says Tauranga police senior sergeant Chris Sommerville.

The call did not originate from the Bay of Plenty, and the shut down in Tauranga was precautionary.
'We are looking to speak to someone over a minor bit of abuse over the phone,” says Chris.
The office was closed at 10.30am and reopened about 12.30pm.
Senior media advisor for IRD Lorna Milton says the security threat concerned Tauranga and Wellington branches.
"As a precautionary step our Tauranga and Hawkstone Street branches were closed," says Lorna.
"Our Tauranga office has now reopened.
"Our Hawkestone Street office will remain closed for the rest of the day. Security has been put in place at our Featherston Street buildings which remain open."
