An Instant Kiwi player who purchased their ticket at Gate Pa New World is being given a second chance.
The ticket is one of 10 tickets around the country that have scratched their way into Lotto history by being the very first winners of second chance.
An Instant Kiwi player has a second chance of being a winner.
Second chance gives anyone with a non-winning Instant Kiwi ticket another shot at turning their ticket into cash, by entering it into an online draw to win one of 10 weekly prizes of $1000.
'We're always thinking about how we can create a bit more fun for our players,” says Ben Coney, Lotto NZ's Chief Innovation and Technology Officer.
'Now customers get a second chance to turn their Instant Kiwi ticket into cash just by scanning the barcode with their phone.”
The first draw took place on Tuesday and 10 Instant Kiwi players from around the country have turned a non-winning ticket into a nice little earner, winning a cheeky little $1000 each.
The second chance winners purchased their Instant Kiwi tickets at the following stores and locations:

The launch of second chance follows on from the successful launch of the Lotto NZ App in June last year, which put the power of an in-store ticket checker in the hands of Lotto players for the first time.
'The ticket-checking app is already really popular with our players and has been downloaded over 115,000 times,” says Ben.
'With 10 weekly prizes of $1,000 cash up for grabs, second chance is shaping up to be just as popular.”
Players can enter second chance by simply scanning the barcode on the front of any non-winning Instant Kiwi ticket using the Lotto NZ App, or by signing into their MyLotto account and manually entering the ticket serial number.
