Diversions are in place for motorists travelling on State Highway 2 between Tauranga to Papamoa as road works are underway today.

The road will be closed between 4am and 12pm today to allow construction work to be undertaken on the new Tauranga Eastern Link underpass bridge.

All eastbound traffic travelling from Tauranga to Te Puke will be diverted onto the Mangatawa interchange to re-join SH2.

A 50km temporary speed restriction will be in place for both eastbound and westbound traffic.
