Entries have now closed for NZ BBQ King with 12 chefs making the grade.
The entrants will be required to submit five different barbecue dishes including beef, chicken, pork, salmon and a mystery box which must all be cooked on-site and on their own barbecue in Ohope tomorrow.
Tastebud will be tantilised at the 2015 BBQ King competition on Ohope tomorrow.
The 12 hail from Auckland, Rotorua, Taneatua, Whakatane, Ohope Beach and are: Justin Smith, Michael Sawyer, Gary Clayton, Michael Harland (Hui Bar and Grill), Chanel Prasad (2014 entrant), Mike Naude (2014 entrant), Angus Findlay (Barbeque Brothers), Nathan Minchington, Bryce Seymour, Phil Pickering (The Eagle), Hayden Cram, Michelle Hurt.
The entrants will be competing for the following prizes; White Island trip plus accommodation, Noel Leemings, Bob's Home Gas vouchers, $500 cash, spit roaster, barbecue, cookbooks, Selleys barbecue kits and the ultimate prize $5000 cash to overall winner of NZ BBQ King.
The entrants are able to collect their meat 24 hours before the event to allow for any marinating time or preparation.
The ‘Placemakers' Corporate Challenge are all set to go head to head in their barbecue challenge, the teams are; ‘Chargirld' Whakatane High School, ‘Gibbos' Gibbos Fresh Fish, Radio Bay of Plenty Ltd (1XX, Bayrock, Q97fm), 106.5 degrees SunFM.
The challenge is a Masterchef style competition with a Mystery box of ingredients.
Head judge Rosemary Sloman (Masterchef NZ qualifier) says the judging criteria have been completed. Without giving too many clues away.
'The judges will be looking for competence, confidence, innovation, and understanding of the different cuts they are handling.
'Flavour profiles, excellent health and hygiene practises and entertainment value will also be assessed.”
Rosemary will be joined by last year's NZ BBQ King winner Meagan Edhouse who is looking forward to returning to the event in a judging capacity.
Celebrity judges MKR ‘Corporate Dads' and ‘Polynesisan Cooks' are all set to tantalise your tastebuds in their barbecue cook off.
